The National Boy Scout Jamboree gathers together Boy Scouts of America members from all across the United States.  Held every four years, the National Jamboree first began in Washington, D.C. in 1937.  The first jamboree was held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of scouting. The idea of a regular event was not initially the plan, but in 1950 the next jamboree began a tradition of national meetings for the Boy Scouts. 

Each event is a national promotion of the Boy Scouts of America.  Jamborees are usually held for ten consecutive days and offer activities for the participants who attend.  The general public is invited to attend. 

The last National Jamboree was held in 2005 at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia. The next scheduled BSA National Jamboree will be in 2010 and will be the 17th National Boy Scouts of America Jamboree. Please contact the Boy Scouts of America for more information on the National Jamboree.
